MANGOLD, Robert
Description
Lavender Grey Area
1966
Oil on canvas mounted on panel
24 x 24" FRAME
Robert Mangold's monochromatic canvases are often discussed as a product of Minimalism, an artistic movement which favored pure geometry and materials over narrative and emotional content. However, his use of irregular geometry, warm, muted colors, and the interchange between line and edge suggests a greater interest in illusion and an internal formal order.
