NOVROS, David
Description
Oil pastel and ink on board
9 1/4 x 26 1/4" FRAMED
Study for the Boathouse series includes a set of preparatory drawings for a larger canvas entitled Boathouse paying homage to a set of murals installed at a lakeside in Middleburgh, New York, no longer in existance. These large scale works were included as part of the artist's "portable" murals series and were not executed on solid surfaces as Novros desired a sense of mobility resulting in their reconfiguration from room to room or gallery to gallery. In this study, three geometic drawings, ranging in hue from dark to light, are hinged and placed horizontally in a rectangular wood frame; (a) left; (b) center and (c) right.
