3 X 4 X 2 1/2" OVERALL
The Women Beyond Borders Art Collection includes over 900 self styled wooden boxes reflecting on a specific woman's self-identity using a variety of multi-media processes. Baird has left the surface untreated but has etched hieroglyphs on the sides and topside of box. Lid is enclosed with rope-like braid. This box has been reconfigured into a puzzle. The box, reminiscent of a hope chest, is a powerful symbol--- resonating, archetypal symbol of woman herself. The boxes express the hopes dreams, and conception of women and their quest for freedom of expression thoughout the world. WBB honors their vitality, wisdom, sensitivity and collective power -- Lorraine Serena, Founder/Director.
