African-American standing with crossed feet and wearing a vest
1/4 plate: 3 1/4 x 2 3/4"
This quarter-plate tintype (image on tin) depicts a man in a vest leaning on a chair with his hand while crossing his feet. The image is nestled within an ornate case that opens like a book. It is lined with embossed velvet. In reference to the dimensions of the tintype, plate sizes are based upon the original 6 1/2 x 8 1/2" daguerreotype plate size, a quarter plate would be a fourth of the size of the original plate.
