Macduff Everton’s photographs are part of his ongoing series called The Modern Maya which documents the descendants of the Maya as a culture in flux. Throughout Everton’s photographic essay, as in this small selection of his works, evidence of globalization’s reach (TVs, mass-produced clothing and industrialization) comingle with images of traditional homes made from guano palms as well as age-old farming techniques.
