Description
The Japanese Basket
oil on canvas
60 x 60"
The Japanese Basket is an oil on canvas completed in 2000 and was included in the museums exhibition Art on Table: Food and Drink from the Permanent Collection in 2013. As a large still life, the pomegranates and other fruit placed in the basket are presented in their natural form and basket has woven texture. The image fulfills the human needs of eating and drinking: the subject matter of fruit in a basket is a delicacy and engages the senses of taste when seeing the luscious red color of the pomegranates.
