Woven fibers, twine, teeth, shells, pigment
8 h. x 3" dia. OVERALL
Though the exact origin and intended presentation of this armlet is unknown, it is clear that its maker took great care in constructing a frame meant to support the woven fibers that comprise the main band. The armlet has been further enhanced with red pigment as well as shells and pigs tusks or dogs teeth. Intended to demonstrate the wearers status, this elaborate adornment may have been worn routinely or for special ceremonial occasions.
