Image was initially illustrated in the photographer's publication Outland, 2001, and republished in an expanded edition, 2015. In this publication Ballen documents the small 'dorps' or villages of rural South Africa and their inhabitants: isolated rural whites, scarred by history. This black and white photo includes a man standing on a bed holding a bat and a woman sitting on the edge of the bed; on reverse signed, dated with edition 3/5.
