Amy Cutler is known for her whimsical and visionary drawings and prints. Her compositions feature female figures clothed in exquisitely patterned garments and participating in bizarre tasks which evoke dreams yet find resonance with the everyday. Cutlers sources are manifold, including 19th century graphic design and book illustration, Persian miniatures, folk art, and Victorian art. The Museum is committed to expanding its holdings of drawings in order to represent the mediums increasing importance in contemporary art over the last fifteen years. This collecting priority also complements the Museums Old Master Drawings and those that are part of the Architecture and Design Collection. Signed and dated at lower right.
