Permanent Love, 1997
Mixed media
6 1/2 x 3 3/4 x 3 1/2" OVERALL
The Women Beyond Borders Art Collection includes over 900 self styled wooden boxes reflecting on a specific woman's self-identity using a variety of multi-media processes. A couple is sealed into the box similiar to a coffin, made visible through a clear piece of plastic. Exterior of the box is painted yellow with red Vietnamese symbols with various objects including incense sticks, wax, wire, and natural fibers. Hog describes the work as a coffin that forever captures the love two people may share with one another, even if they are unable to be together due to the societal pressures that forces them to be apart.
